TAKE ACTION NOW

September 11, 2020

Dear Members:

As you may be aware, the Amesbury City Council is reviewing the budgets for the upcoming 2021 fiscal year. The budget being proposed by the Mayor has a reduction of significance to a level funded budget. If this budget is passed, it would have a terrible impact on some of our members’ livelihoods.

While Amesbury has voted to underfund the schools in the past - this budget is inherently unfair as it will result in active employees getting laid off.  This is especially unfair now that the school year has begun and the likelihood of someone securing additional employment will be very low. Dedicated educators who made a commitment to the City of Amesbury should not be penalized.

We are asking you to stand with your colleagues and write an email to the City Council and Mayor Gove.

We need to stand together and make sure they hear our collective voices. If the Council votes to adopt the Mayor’s budget - it will be an injury to all of us.

In Unity,
